About Diatasis Recti
Hello mamas! I'm Kevin Anderson. I'm a certified personal trainer who has a Bachelors of Science (B.S.) in Exercise Physiology, from Concordia University. I've been in this industry for more than ten(10) years.
My journey started working with moms when I've witnessed countless women struggling trying to get their bodies back into shape after birth. They wondered why the exercises they were doing weren't working. Why they still have a baby pouch and it's year(s) after giving birth. They started to blame themselves and give up; they started to feel insecure about their bodies and began to feel broken from within; not feeling wholesome in dealing with the daily activities and care of their children.
What is it? What’s preventing a mama getting her tummy/body back in shape? Diastasis Recti. Dia who? Dia what? Diastasis Recti is the separation of the rectus abdominis( known as the 6 pack) at the linea alba (that beautiful dark line that appears while pregnant). The rectus muscles move to the side when a woman becomes pregnant to make room for the baby. Once the baby is born the rectus muscles are supposed to move back into their original spot. The diastasis accrues when the rectus muscles don’t go back, rather they stay on the sides. This is due to a weak transverse abdominis (the inner gridle) tendons.
My exercises are geared towards healing from within. We will take it slow and steady to target those muscles that haven't been used in year(s). The core is the foundation to a woman's overall health. Therefore, healthy mamas equals healthy babies. Your body is in good hands.
